Terms and Conditions of the WorldPride London 2032 Logo Design Contest
Terms and Conditions
By entering the World Pride London 2032 Logo Competition (the “Competition”), entrants agree to these terms and conditions.
1. Promoter
1.1 The promoter of the Competition is Pride in London is the trading name of London LGBT Community Pride C.I.C., registered in England and Wales (No. 08321669). Registered Office: Cannon Place, 78 Cannon Street, London, EC4N 6AF (the “Promoter”).
1.2 The Competition is organised to identify a logo ‘vessel or repository’ to be digitally filled with crowd sourced images for the final World Pride London 2032 logo (the “Logo”).
2. Eligibility
2.1 The Competition is open to any one who are aged [18] or over on the date of entry.
2.2 Entrants under the age of 18 may enter only if expressly permitted by the Promoter and with the written consent of a parent or legal guardian. The parent or guardian must agree to these terms and conditions on the entrant’s behalf.
2.3 Employees, officers and trustees of the Promoter, members of the judging panel, Competition contractors and members of their immediate families are not eligible to enter.
2.4 An entrant submitting a design on behalf of an agency, organisation, team or client must:
a. have authority to submit the entry;
b. obtain all necessary permissions before entering; and
c. identify every person who contributed creatively to the entry.
2.5 Each entrant may submit up to 3 entries. Joint or team entries are not permitted.
2.6 Entry is free and no purchase is necessary.
3. Competition period and entry process
3.1 The Competition opens at 18.00 on 6th August 2026 and closes at 12.00 on [25th September 2026] (the “Closing Date”). Times refer to UK time.
3.2 Entries must be submitted through https://prideinlondon.org/worldpride2032 before the Closing Date.
3.3 Each entry must include:
a. the proposed Logo ‘vessel’ in monochrome formats;
b. versions suitable for use on light and dark backgrounds;
c. the Logo supplied in required formats, for example PDF, PNG, SVG or EPS;
d. a short written explanation of no more than 500 words describing the creative idea and how it responds to the Competition brief;
e. the entrant’s full name, contact details and any other information required by the entry form;
f. the names and roles of all creative contributors;g. details of any third-party materials incorporated into the entry, including typefaces, software assets or licensed elements; and
h. a declaration stating whether generative artificial intelligence or other automated design tools were used and, if so, how they were used.
3.4 Entries must follow the technical requirements and creative criteria contained in the official Competition brief published at https://prideinlondon.org/worldpride2032 (the “Brief”).
3.5 Entries received after the Closing Date, or submitted by another method, will not be considered.
3.6 The Promoter is not responsible for entries that are incomplete, corrupted, misdirected, delayed or not received because of equipment, software, network or technical failure.
3.7 Proof that an entry was sent does not constitute proof that it was received.
4. Design requirements
4.1 The proposed Logo ‘vessel’ must:
a. be original and created by the entrant or the individuals identified in the entry;
b. respond to the values, purpose and creative requirements described in the Brief;
c. be distinctive, adaptable and capable of effective use across print, digital, environmental, merchandise, broadcast and social-media applications;
d. work at different sizes and, where required, in colour, monochrome and accessible formats;
e. be suitable for use by World Pride London 2032 and its authorised partners, sponsors, licensees and stakeholders;
f. comply with applicable laws and regulations;g. not be defamatory, discriminatory, obscene, threatening or otherwise offensive; andh. not contain political endorsements, unauthorised commercial branding or material inconsistent with the values stated in the Brief.
4.2 An entry must not infringe any copyright, trade mark, design right, moral right, privacy right or other right belonging to another person.
4.3 Stock images, clip art, pre-existing logos, templates and third-party graphic elements must not be used unless the Brief expressly permits them and the entrant has disclosed them and obtained all rights necessary for the Promoter’s intended use.
4.4 Entrants must ensure that any fonts included in the design are either:
a. created by the entrant;
b. available under a licence that permits the Logo’s intended worldwide commercial use; or
c. capable of being replaced or separately licensed without materially altering the design.
4.5 The use of generative artificial intelligence is permitted subject to full disclosure. Where it is permitted, the entrant remains responsible for establishing originality, ownership and the Promoter’s ability to obtain and enforce exclusive rights in the resulting design.
4.6 The Promoter may disqualify an entry if it reasonably considers that the entry does not comply with these terms, the Brief or the spirit of the Competition.
5. Judging
5.1 Eligible entries will be assessed by a judging panel appointed by the Promoter.
5.2 Entries will be evaluated against the following criteria:
a. originality and creativity;
b. relevance to the Brief and the values of World Pride London 2032;
c. inclusivity and cultural sensitivity;
d. visual impact and distinctiveness;
e. accessibility, clarity and legibility;
f. adaptability across formats, environments and audiences;
g. technical quality and feasibility; and
h. potential for legal protection and use as a brand identity.
5.5 The panel will select the entry that, in its reasonable opinion, best satisfies the judging criteria. The Competition is based on creative skill and judgement and is not a random prize draw.
5.6 The judging panel’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into concerning the merits of individual entries.
5.7 The Promoter may decide not to select a winner if no entry meets the required creative, technical or legal standard.
6. Winner notification and announcement
6.1 The selected winner will be contacted using the details supplied with the entry by 1st October 2026.
6.2 The winner must respond within 7 days and provide any requested proof of identity, eligibility, authorship, authority or ownership.
6.3 If the selected winner:
a. cannot be contacted;
b. does not respond within the stated period;
c. is unable to provide the requested evidence;
d. declines the prize or required intellectual-property arrangements; or
e. is found to have breached these terms,
the Promoter may withdraw the award and select another entry.
6.4 The winner must keep the result confidential until the Promoter makes its official public announcement.
6.5 The winner’s name, biographical information and design may be announced through the Promoter’s websites, press releases, events and social-media channels.
7. Prize
7.1 The winner will receive:
a. £3,000
b. design-development opportunity;
c. public recognition as the designer of the selected Logo Vessel, subject to clause 8.12
7.2 Any tax or other personal liability arising from receipt of a prize is the responsibility of the recipient.
7.3 Prizes are non-transferable and no alternative is available except at the Promoter’s discretion.
7.4 Unless expressly stated otherwise, the prize does not include equipment, software, travel, accommodation, insurance or expenses incurred in entering the Competition or accepting the prize.
8. Intellectual property
Entries generally
8.1 Entrants retain ownership of copyright in entries that are not selected as the winner, subject to the limited licence in clause 8.2.
8.2 Each entrant grants the Promoter a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to copy, display, reproduce and publish the entry for the purposes of:
a. administering and judging the Competition;
b. exhibiting or publicising the Competition and its results;
c. maintaining an archive of the Competition; and
d. carrying out legal, technical and trade-mark checks.
8.3 The licence in clause 8.2 begins when the entry is submitted and continues unitl 2034 except that archival copies and published Competition materials may remain available indefinitely.
8.4 The Promoter will not use an unsuccessful entry as the official Logo or for unrelated commercial purposes without first entering into a separate written agreement with its owner.
Winning entry
8.5 As a condition of receiving the prize, the winner must sign a written assignment transferring to the Promoter, with full title guarantee, all intellectual-property rights in the winning entry and all agreed developments of it.
8.6 The assignment will include all present and future copyright, design rights and other intellectual-property rights capable of assignment:
a. throughout the world;
b. for the full duration of those rights, including renewals and extensions; and
c. with the right for the Promoter to register, use, reproduce, adapt, edit, animate, combine, license, assign and enforce those rights.
8.7 To the extent that any relevant rights cannot legally be assigned, the winner grants the Promoter an exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, transferable, sub-licensable and royalty-free licence to exercise those rights for any purpose.
8.8 The winner must obtain equivalent assignments, licences and consents from every person who contributed to the winning entry and must provide copies to the Promoter on request.
8.9 The winner agrees, to the extent permitted by law, to waive and not assert any moral rights in the winning entry. The winner must obtain equivalent waivers from all contributors.
8.10 The winner must provide all editable source files, artwork, colour references, typeface information, technical specifications and other materials reasonably required to use and develop the Logo.
8.11 The winner must sign further documents and provide reasonable assistance needed to record, perfect, register or protect the Promoter’s rights in the winning entry.
8.12 The Promoter will credit the winner where reasonably practicable A credit does not give the winner any approval right over the Logo’s use.
8.13 The Promoter may develop, refine, modify or decide not to use the winning design. Selection as the winner does not guarantee that the design will be adopted in its submitted form or used as the final World Pride London 2032 identity.
8.14 The prize includes full payment for the assignment and other rights granted under this clause.
9. Entrant warranties
9.1 Each entrant warrants that:
a. the entry is original and the entrant owns or controls all rights required by these terms;
b. the entry has not been copied, in whole or in substantial part, from another work;
c. the entry does not infringe another person’s rights;
d. the entrant has obtained all necessary permissions, licences and consents;
e. the information supplied with the entry is complete and accurate;
f. submission and use of the entry will not breach any employment, agency, client, confidentiality or other agreement; and
g. there is no dispute, claim, charge or restriction affecting the entry or the rights granted to the Promoter.
9.2 Entrants must notify the Promoter immediately if they become aware of a potential infringement, ownership dispute or other claim concerning their entry.
9.3 The winner must cooperate with reasonable originality, clearance, trade-mark and due-diligence checks before the Logo is adopted.
10. Publicity
10.1 Entrants agree that the Promoter may use their name, approved biographical information, image, voice and comments for reasonable publicity connected with the Competition.
10.2 The Promoter will obtain any additional consent required before using an entrant’s image or personal information for purposes unrelated to the Competition.
10.3 Entrants must not suggest that they, their organisation or their entry is endorsed by the Promoter unless the Promoter has provided written permission.
11. Disqualification and withdrawal
11.1 The Promoter may reject or disqualify an entry where it reasonably believes that:
a. these terms or the Brief have been breached;
b. false, incomplete or misleading information has been provided;
c. the entry infringes or may infringe another person’s rights;
d. the entrant has attempted to influence the judging process improperly; or
e. the entrant has acted fraudulently, unlawfully or in a way likely to damage the reputation of the Competition, the Promoter or World Pride London 2032.
11.2 If a breach is discovered after an award has been made, the Promoter may withdraw the award, require the return of the prize and select another entry.
12. Liability
12.1 Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
12.2 Subject to clause 12.1, the Promoter is not responsible for:
a. loss, damage or disappointment arising from entry into the Competition or acceptance of a prize;
b. technical problems, system failures or lost or delayed entries;
c. an entrant’s costs of preparing or submitting an entry; or
d. loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when the entrant entered the Competition.
12.3 Entrants are responsible for retaining copies and backups of all submitted materials.
12.4 Each entrant will be responsible for losses, liabilities and reasonable costs incurred by the Promoter as a direct result of the entrant’s material breach of the warranties in clause 9, subject to applicable law.
13. Cancellation and changes
13.1 The Promoter may suspend, cancel or amend the Competition where circumstances outside its reasonable control make this necessary.
13.2 The Promoter may make reasonable changes to these terms or the Competition timetable. Any material change will be communicated through Competition website or directly to affected entrants where reasonably practicable.
13.3 The Promoter will endeavour to ensure that any change does not unfairly disadvantage entrants who have already submitted a valid entry.
14. Confidentiality
14.1 Information specifically identified by an entrant as confidential will be made available only to the Competition organisers, judges and professional advisers who reasonably require access, unless disclosure is required by law.
14.2 Clause 14.1 does not apply to the entry itself, the entrant’s name or other materials intended for judging, exhibition, publicity or publication under these terms.
14.3 The Promoter cannot guarantee confidentiality for information included in materials intended for public exhibition or announcement.
15. Data protection
15.1 The Promoter will use personal information supplied in connection with the Competition to:
a. administer and judge the Competition;
b. verify eligibility, authorship and ownership;
c. communicate with entrants;
d. arrange and deliver prizes;
e. publicise the results; and
f. manage or defend legal rights and claims.
15.2 Personal information will be processed in accordance with applicable data-protection legislation and the Promoter’s privacy notice at the competition website.
15.3 Personal information may be shared with judges, service providers, professional advisers and delivery partners where reasonably necessary to administer the Competition.
15.4 Entrants should not submit unnecessary personal information about another person. Where an entry contains another person’s personal information, the entrant must have authority to provide it.
15.5 Personal information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above or as required by law.
16. General
16.1 Entry into the Competition constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.
16.2 If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
16.3 A delay by the Promoter in exercising a right under these terms does not waive that right.
16.4 These terms do not create rights enforceable by any person who is not the entrant or the Promoter, except where expressly stated.
16.5 These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
16.6 The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from the Competition, subject to any mandatory rights available to consumers in their country of residence.
